Six-year-old Miles (not pictured) has had hearing difficulties for the past three years, and wears hearing aids to help him hear. When the team from MedEquip4Kids visited the Starlight Children’s Unit in Wythenshawe Hospital, Miles was getting ready to have grommets fitted in his ears. Miles is quite fond of his hearing aids, but mum and dad are hoping that the grommets will lead to him having fewer ear infections, and being able to hear more clearly at home and at school.

While staying at the hospital, Miles has benefitted from a Spot Monitor (pictured above with the nursing team) donated by MedEquip4Kids . This lightweight and portable device allows the hospital team to accurately check young patients’ stats such as blood pressure, pulse oximetry and temperature.

“The materials provided greatly help with the therapeutic process and engaging children, young people and their families in therapeutic work. The young people greatly appreciate having this equipment to use within their sessions. Many of the young people we see have a history of trauma including neglect and being able to access materials that they can use and enjoy is of great benefit and hopefully assists us to reinforce the messages of their worth as their self-concept is often very low.”
