Thanks to an incredible show of community support, we’re delighted to share that over £7,500 was raised to support vulnerable children and babies across the UK.

A fantastic day at Salford Quays

Despite slightly blustery conditions (perfect for ducks, if not for the rest of us!), the day brought together one of our largest crowds yet.

We also sold more ducks than ever before in the 11 years we’ve been running the event, a testament to the continued support from our local community and partners.

From creative duck designs to a closely fought race on the water, the atmosphere was full of energy, laughter and friendly competition.

Race highlights

This year’s race saw a battle between seasoned favourites and exciting newcomers — with the veterans ultimately taking the top spots.

  • 1st place: Unite the Union
  • 2nd place: NG Bailey
  • 3rd place: Soapworks

It was a tight finish, with several entries just missing out on the podium in what was one of our most competitive races to date.

Alongside the race, our Best Dressed Duck competition once again showcased the creativity and effort of our supporters, with an impressive range of designs capturing the attention (and votes) of the crowd.

Best Dressed Ducks

Our Best Dressed competition once again brought plenty of creativity, detail and personality to the day — and the voting was incredibly close.

  • 1st place: Quartzelec Limited – Rumi
  • 2nd place: The Doctors Laboratory – Quack (Elphaba)
  • 3rd place: Hall Brown Family Law – Sheriff Woody

From bold, colourful designs to impressively detailed costumes (and a few that may have sacrificed speed for style!), the standard this year was higher than ever.

Community support at its best

This event simply wouldn’t be possible without the support of so many people.

We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to:

  • The local businesses who sponsored ducks and brought so much creativity to the event
  • Our prize donors, entertainers and vendors who helped make the day so enjoyable
  • Our volunteers and event partners who kept everything running smoothly
  • And everyone who attended, bought a mini duck, and cheered from the sidelines

Every contribution played a part in making the day such a success.

Where the money goes

The funds raised will help us continue our work supporting children and young people in:

  • Hospitals
  • Hospices
  • SEN schools
  • CAMHS services

This includes providing therapeutic resources, creating comforting environments, and delivering moments of joy for those who need it most.

Looking ahead

With 2026 marking Salford’s centenary year, it felt especially meaningful to bring the community together in such a positive and uplifting way.

We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year, and making it even bigger and better.

If you attended the event or supported in any way, thank you for being part of it.

“This donation has enabled us to use more varied and useful therapeutic toys and games when working with children and young people with mental health difficulties, as well as using extra clinic rooms which are now more child-friendly. This has helped reduced anxiety about coming to CAMHS and meant that family therapy can be done. Both parents of a 10 year old boy can now attend with their 5 year old as the youngest child can play with our new resources in the waiting room or clinic space. The 10 year old benefited from therapeutic games about thoughts/feelings and we were also able to observe imaginative play for assessment.”
