On Saturday, November 8th, MedEquip4Kids hosted the annual Vinci Building-sponsored Shimmer Ball, in which we raised a brilliant £62,787 to improve the health and wellbeing of Britain’s children and young people! With this support, MedEquip4Kids will be providing Transcutaneous carbon dioxide monitors and a Rockin-R Gaming Trolley to Liverpool Women’s Hospital and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, respectively.

The monitors track babies’ blood gases in real time, preventing respiratory failure and brain injury through non-invasive means commonly caused by prematurity. Placed on the hospital’s neonatal unit, over 80 premature babies will benefit from this lifesaving technology every year.

The Rockin-R Gaming Trolley brings comfort, distraction, and social connection to young patients in hospital. This trolley will help the patients feel more at ease, making their stay much less frightening while providing a familiar experience they enjoy at home. Created in memory of a young gamer, over 750 children will benefit from the Rockin-R Gaming Trolley every year.

The ball was hosted at The Edwardian, Radisson’s award-winning 5-star Spa Hotel in Grade II-listed Free Trade Hall, set at the heart of Manchester. The Shimmer Ball included a lovely 3-course meal, an auction of six wonderful breaks and experiences, a raffle for a pair of 2 carat diamond earrings from Warren James Jewellers, and entertainment from The Singing Waiters.

Our Shimmer Ball was sponsored by VINCI Building and their partners, Chris Bowker Ltd., and Tilbury Douglas Ltd. Further to that, our luxurious auction prizes were kindly sponsored by MultiHealth SpecialistsRose System ScaffoldingJM Passive Fire Protection, PLF Ltd., and Athena Law. The Heads & Tails game prize of a two-person Spa stay at The Marriott Hotel was kindly sponsored by AJP Logistics, while Warren James Jewellers donated the raffle prize of 2 carat diamond earrings.

We’d also like to thank our auction prize winners: Jarrod Sykes, Kate Davis, Peter Bryan, Anthony Davies, John Bocker, and Samuel Abson!

Speeches were made by Adrian Drinkwater from Vinci Building, Liverpool Women’s Hospital, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, and MedEquip4Kids’ Chair and Vice-Chair, Brian White MBE and Prof. Jerome Carson. A special thank you to The Edwardian and our Compere, Darren Proctor, for hosting an incredible event.

Thank you very much to everyone who attended and gave so generously.
