We’re delighted to launch a new blog for the Hummingbird Project, where we’ll feature longer and more in-depth articles than the news stories we publish here. The team involved in the project, including psychologists from three universities, will explain more about the research and science behind the six-week course, which has helped nearly 7,500 children at schools in the North West learn to take care of their mental health.

The initial post is by the Hummingbird Project Development Manager, Catherine North, who tells us where the idea for the project first came from, and how partnership working and collaboration helped to make it a reality. You can read the article below.

“The materials provided greatly help with the therapeutic process and engaging children, young people and their families in therapeutic work. The young people greatly appreciate having this equipment to use within their sessions. Many of the young people we see have a history of trauma including neglect and being able to access materials that they can use and enjoy is of great benefit and hopefully assists us to reinforce the messages of their worth as their self-concept is often very low.”
