Congratulation to our Hummingbird Project co-ordinator, Sonia Ebenezer-Bamigbayan on her graduation from the University of Bolton with an MSc degree in Positive Psychology and Counselling.  Sonia started with us in January this year and has made an incredible contribution to the project with her experience, enthusiasm and ability to inspire young people.

Sonia received a Merit for her dissertation on Bounce Back, a Positive Psychology course for parents and carers. We recently added Bounce Back to our programme, in partnership with the University of Chester, the University of Bolton and the Open University.

Sonia is pictured above with MedEquip4Kids CEO, Ghazala Baig, who is also a graduate of the University of Bolton, having been awarded an Honorary Doctorate last year in recognition of her lifelong contribution to healthcare.

Sonia told us:

“Friday was a truly beautiful day as I attended my MSc. Graduation ceremony surrounded by family, friends, colleagues, course mates, and wonderful lecturers.

“I am grateful for all your contributions in different ways.

“To those considering a career change, go for it.

“If your business was affected by Covid-19, don’t lose hope – keep pursuing your goals.

“For those managing multiple roles as a mother, wife, professional, and entrepreneur, remember to accept help from your support systems, prioritize your mental health and overall well-being to stay healthy and achieve your wonderful goals while making a positive impact.”

“Infections of the central nervous system need urgent and appropriate treatment. Most laboratory methods can take from 24 to 48 hours for diagnosis of bacterial meningitis and three to seven days for diagnosis of viral meningitis or encephalitis. The new equipment will mean we can get results of these tests in around an hour. We’ll be able to inform the clinicians of a positive result, allowing targeted therapy and reassurance to the patients and families. Just as important is the reporting of negative results, which may enable treatment withdrawal and possibly a shorter hospital stay.”
