We were very sad to hear that one of our most long-standing and dedicated supporters, Arthur George Thorniley, passed away this year aged 85.

Arthur was involved with MedEquip4Kids for over 15 years. During that time, he raised over £36,000 for us – a truly incredible contribution to children’s healthcare. Arthur took part in a number of treks and challenges in overseas locations including Peru, China, Morocco, Cuba, the Grand Canyon, the Himalayas, Kilimanjaro and Sinai.

Arthur’s young neighbours, Jack and Will Potter, wanted to raise some funds for his favourite charity in his memory, and in September they completed the “Mini Mudder” challenge, a 1-mile obstacle course mud run.

Jack and Will were supported by their mum, dad, sister Orla and friends, as well as Arthur’s daughter Alison, who came along to watch. We’re so grateful for their support.

“During winter months our admissions of children with respiratory conditions increase, so these saturation monitors are vital to us being able to safely monitor children. They will allow us to monitor more children both continuously through their stay with us and at intermittent times during their visit. Staff will find the additional units make their jobs easier.”
