We were delighted to spend last Sunday at the Virgin Money Lounge in Manchester at a lovely intimate event to support Emma and Carl, who are running the London Marathon to raise money for MedEquip4Kids, and Julie, who is running in aid of four incredible causes.
The music from Almaz Sounds was perfect for the environment and set just the right vibe for the afternoon. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their repertoire of jazz and blues with their version of ‘Summertime’ being a particular favourite. Guests took part in a raffle, with a mix of event attendees and Virgin Lounge members winning some brilliant prizes.
Emma made a heartfelt speech about her son Leo’s birth and how MedEquip4Kids and the NHS have supported their family and friends. Leo was rushed to the neo natal intensive care unit at Royal Bolton Hospital after his lungs collapsed during birth, where he was treated using equipment funded by MedEquip4Kids. Thanks to the excellent medical care he received, Leo made a fantastic recovery from his difficult birth and is growing up into an adorable little boy. During the speech Emma got upset and Leo ran over to give her a cuddle. It was a very emotional moment for everyone.
Julie also spoke and said that during the marathon she will now be spurred on by MedEquip4Kids as well as her own causes.
We would like to thank Scribbler, Waitrose, 1847, Tesco, Newell Brands and Starbucks for their raffle contributions, Almaz Sounds for giving up their time to entertain us, and Sue and Jennifer at the Virgin Money Lounge for co-ordinating the afternoon. Thanks also to Hilti, the manufacturing company Emma works for, who are match-funding anything she manages to raise and have been an incredible support to her.
