Committed 2 Breastfeeding

Our next deadline is 27th January 2012. To apply, please contact the office for an application form.

Midwives and breastfeeding support groups promoting the benefits of breastfeeding to new mums can apply for funding for essential resources with MedEquip4Kids' Committed 2 Breastfeeding programme.

MedEquip4Kids has been funding breastfeeding projects over the last five years providing breast pumps and other associated equipment for use on maternity and neo-natal units across the north of England, and is now getting more requests than ever before for support from community-based infant feeding co-ordinators and midwives.

Baby cafes, community clinics, drop-in centres and midwives can often make all the difference to new mums who have decided to breastfeed - but then need that bit more support.

If you match the following criteria, you can apply to MedEquip4Kids for equipment and resources which will help promote breastfeeding.

Who can apply:

Community midwives
Infant feeding co-ordinators
Volunteer peer supporters
Health visitors
Children's centres.

We are focusing on applications from the North West, Yorkshire and Humber, but applications from outside these areas will still be considered. Priority will be given to areas with low breastfeeding rates or for specific groups, like young mums.

What can MedEquip4Kids fund:

Toys and books for children
Reference books for volunteers and families
Positioning aids and training tools
Equipment for Peer Supporters
Information leaflets
Promotional materials

This list is not exhaustive and anything that will help a breastfeeding support group to operate will be considered.

All items must remain the property of the group, PCT or children's centres - although they can be loaned out short term. We cannot pay salaries. We will consider training costs for volunteers, but not for paid staff.

Committed 2 Breastfeeding does not fund projects for hospital wards, such as breastfeeding rooms or electric pumps for use on neo-natal units. If you would like to apply for funding for such items, please go through our normal application process.
