We have been approached by the Children’s Unit at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan for help in providing updated equipment to replace what is in use on the Children’s High Dependency Unit. The unit treats approximately 250 patients each week, from the ages of 0 to 15.
The unit has requested a Neopuff Infant Resuscitator is specially designed to perform a vital function in supporting the breathing of very sick children requiring special care. It is adaptable to each individual child, even very tiny and pre-term babies, and can provide significant health benefits.
At present the staff use a bag and mask system when a child needs resuscitation. However, there are risks associated with this method, due to under or over inflation at controlled pressures. The main benefit to the child is an increase in safety by delivering a constantly monitored oxygen flow.
