Stepping Hill Hospital - Pulse Oximeters x10

We have been approached by the Neo Natal Unit at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport for help in providing Pulse Oximeters for use on pre-term and critically ill newborn babies. This piece of equipment allows medical staff to accurately obtain data on oxygen saturation levels. It is non-invasive, and provides instant results to allow staff to quickly respond to any change in the condition of the baby.

This equipment would greatly improve the levels of monitoring of newborns in comparison to the equipment that is currently available. However at present there is not sufficient funding available from statutory sources to provide these items. They are considered essential only at the large regional centres of excellence. Provision of these items at Stepping Hill would help to bring the standards of care up to that offered in larger hospitals, and therefore reduce the need for traumatic transfers to other hospitals.

We have agreed to provide ten of these items, at a cost of £1,495 each. The ward also require a docking base for computer download of measurements taken. This will give a total project cost of £16,845.
