Ormskirk and District General Hospital - Syringe Pumps x3

The Paediatric Department at Ormskirk District General Hospital treats children from 0 to 16. Patients come to the hospital from throughout the Ormskirk area, as well as across Southport, Formby and the northern part of Merseyside.

By providing the latest in medical technology, we can significantly reduce the need for children to be moved to other hospital sites. Often improvements in patient care happen more quickly than NHS budgets can keep pace with. Although the ward currently has equipment to perform this function, it is outdated and not as accurate. This new equipment is more effective, matching the standard of care at the regional centres of excellence.

This pump is designed for administering drugs to very sick children. When small children require medication it is vital to ensure that the quantity is exactly right. This Syringe Pump allows medical staff to be confident that exactly the required amount is being delivered, and therefore gives much greater peace of mind to family members.

The provision of these pumps would help to bring the standard of care up to that offered at the specialist Paediatric Hospitals. As well as allowing much greater accuracy, it would cut down on hospital transfers, and therefore massively reduce the pressure on the family at a very difficult time.

These pumps will cost £1,900.00 each. Three are required with a total project cost of £5,700.00. As a charity we do not pay VAT on medical items.
