UPDATE: This equipment was delivered in 2010.
North Manchester General Hospital has undergone massive redevelopment over the last year and, in June 2010, will open a new Women’s and Children’s Unit incorporating a new Maternity Unit. MedEquip4Kids has been involved in the scheme from the beginning, ensuring that the new development will provide the best service possible to local children.
The sonicaid, or foetal Doppler, is a handheld device which listens to the baby’s heart rate in the womb. This enables midwives and doctors to assess foetal wellbeing during delivery, and where there are signs of distress, action can be taken to speed up delivery, such as performing a caesarean or other interventions, to increase the chances of a successful outcome for the baby.
We have been asked to fund six sonicairds, which cost £314 each, making a total project cost of £1,884.
