North Manchester General Hospital - Infusion Pumps

UPDATE: This equipment was delivered in 2003.

This pump is designed for administering fluid to very seriously traumatised children and babies. It is used in the most severe cases, often where life is threatened. There are approximately 2500 deliveries at the North Manchester General Hospital. Approximately 10% of these deliveries are admitted to the Special Care Baby Unit. Existing pumps are more than 7 years old, and they do not have the facility of observing back pressure on delicate neo-natal veins.

By providing this equipment we can ensure that medication is administered accurately and safely. This equipment is also compatible with that used in the regional centres such as St Mary’s. This ensures that in the event of an emergency transfer valuable time is not wasted.

Each unit will cost £1,950.00. Two of these devices are needed, with a total cost of £3,900.00.
