Newton Heath Health Centre - Enuresis Alarms

UPDATE: This equipment was delivered in 2004.

We have recently been approached by the Continence Service at Newton Heath Health Centre for help in providing equipment to help children with learning difficulties to gain bladder control.

They have asked us for 10 potties and 15 Enuresis Alarms. These lightweight devices work by encouraging children to recognise signals and therefore wake up during the night prior to urinating. MedEquip4Kids has provided a number of these items in the past, and they have proved hugely successful in treating the condition.

By enabling children to free themselves of the worry of wetting the bed these alarms have been shown to significantly improve quality of life. Solving this problem removes the trauma suffered through bedwetting, such as embarrassment, feelings of isolation and inadequacy, teasing and bullying by siblings and peers, and the pressure it puts on family relationships.

Providing 15 of these items will allow up to 200 children per year to benefit from treatment. This will have a major impact on the lives of these children, in a way they can probably never fully express.
