Fairfield General Hospital - Play Equipment
UPDATE: This equipment was delivered in 2007.
The play room at Bury Fairfield Hospital recently suffered a major flood from a burst pipe. Much of the play equipment and distraction therapy items were destroyed. We are now working with the play team to replace the lost items, and to ensure that children still have access to play and distraction therapy items during their stay in hospital.
The distraction items are for use in treatment rooms, and are designed to engage the child’s interest while procedures are carried out. The list of items required includes a light projector to calm babies and toddlers, and interactive toys for older children as well as music and activities for teenagers.
Immediately after the flood, the charity purchased sensory equipment that is crucial in keeping babies and young children calm during medical procedures. We are now fundraising to replace items such as books, CD players, soft toys and puzzles, all of which need to be replaced urgently. Play can help a child to cope with a traumatic experience and to express how they are feeling about their illness.
The charity made an emergency purchase of £2,795.00, and the remaining items required at Bury cost £745.00.
