1 x Incubator
The Neo Natal Unit at Ormskirk cares for approximately 200 babies each year from across the region. The unit is currently being upgraded and equipment that is becoming old and outdated is being replaced. Several incubators are approaching the end of their life, and the hospital need help to ensure that their equipment provides the best chance of survival for the babies they treat.
On first admission all pre-term babies spend time in an incubator to regulate their body temperature and oxygen. They remain in the incubator for up to two weeks until they can be ventilated and placed in cots. This new model has two opening doors that improve accessibility and contact, and provide better humidification than the older models. It has integral scales, to avoid moving the baby unnecessarily, and has a more accurate oxygen delivery system.
Beneficiaries: Newborn pre-term and very sick babies.
Total: £15,311
UPDATE: The incubator was ordered in March 2012
