Trafford General Hospital - Audiology Screening Equipment
It has become standard practise to screen all newborn babies for hearing loss in the first few days following birth. Detecting problems this early is vital to ensure that speech patterns develop normally.
The Audiology Department at Trafford Hospital has been successfully screening all new babies for a number of years. They have asked for our help to provide equipment to enable them to follow up those babies that do so signs of hearing loss in their initial screening.
The GSI Audera is a frequency-specific hearing assessment system. It allows the Audiologist to accurately assess the extent and range of hearing loss, even in babies who are too young to actively participate in the test. The information can be saved or printed to prescribe hearing aids where necessary.
The total cost of this equipment is £26,226. We are joint funding this with the NHS Trust so we are seeking £13,113.00
