Leeds General Infirmary - Suction Pump

UPDATE: This equipment was delivered in 2010.

Children who need a tracheotomy (an airway inserted into the windpipe) need constant access to a suction pump to remove build-up of saliva. At present children are offered a large, mains powered machine, but newer, smaller models are now on the market which offer much more freedom and flexibility to children who need these machines.

We have pledged to provide a suction machine for use by children in Leeds. The new machine is more discreet, quieter and more compact than the machines the NHS currently offer. Being battery operated and portable makes them far more suitable for children, who may be attending main stream schools or play groups in the community.

The pump will cost £395.00.
