Royal Preston Hospital - Inspiration Cot

UPDATE: This equipment has now been ordered and we are awaiting delivery.

Not all babies that need Neo Natal care are pre-term or low birth weight.  Babies born on or around their due date can also suffer from birth complications, breathing difficulties and illness. These babies do not need incubator care, but they do need specialist cots.

Incubators are designed for pre-term babies weighing just a few pounds, but they are not appropriate for bigger babies. Average birth weights are rising as the size of the population increases, and neo natal units are seeing an increase in admissions of larger babies.

We have been asked to provide an Inspiration Cot for babies at the Royal Preston. This cot is ideal for Neo Natal care. It is designed to accommodate any monitors and other items that may be needed. It is height adjustable to allow quick access for medical staff in the event of an emergency, and also helps parents to access their baby easily. This is particularly important for mothers with disabilities or those who have just had a caesarian section.

This cot will be used by the Neo Natal Unit and also the Paediatric Unit, depending on needs. It will cost £3,970.
