Stoke on Trent Children's Airways Support Team - Suction Pumps x3
UPDATE: This equipment was delivered in 2009.
Stoke on Trent Community Nursing Team operate a Children’s Airway Support Team, supporting children with a range of health needs to continue their day-to-day lives supported by their medical team and families.
Children who need a tracheotomy (an airway inserted into the windpipe) need constant access to a suction pump to remove build-up of saliva. At present Stoke on Trent PCT offers a large, mains powered machine to its patients, but newer, smaller models are now on the market which offer much more freedom and flexibility to children who need these machines.
We have pledged to provide three suction machines for use by children in Stoke. The new machine is more discreet, quieter and more compact than the machines the NHS currently offer. Being battery operated and portable makes them far more suitable for children, who may be attending main stream schools or play groups in the community.
All the machines will be used by children aged one to eight in the Stoke area, and will make a tremendous difference to the freedom and opportunities of children with severe health conditions.
Each pump will cost £385.00 including a carry bag. We want to provide three, with a total cost of £1,357.12.
