Blackpool Victoria Hospital - Teaching Room
UPDATE: This project was completed in 2005
We have recently been approached by Blackpool Victoria Hospital Children’s Unit. They have asked us to help them with their fundraising efforts to improve the amenities available to children requiring treatment on the site. We are seeking funds to refurbish an outdated treatment room on the Children’s Ward to provide up-to-date teaching facilities for the children who are required to stay on the ward for long periods of time. Patients who are in hospital for more than three days are eligible to attend classes with the hospital teachers.
For children who have extended stays in hospital this facility is vital for their education as well as for a feeling of normality and continuity. The facilities currently being used are old-fashioned and unsuitable, and are some distance from the ward meaning that the more sick or immobile children cannot attend. This project will have a positive impact on the lives of children with a variety of disabilities, illness and injury. We estimate that 700 children each year between the ages of 5 and 16 will benefit from the project.
The total cost of the new Teaching Room is £3,995.00.
