09.08.12CHESTER HEALTH CLUB STRIKES GOLD!
TOTAL FITNESS gym in Chester has reached the winners podium by raising a breathtaking £3,184 in their Olympic challenges in aid of MedEquip4Kids.
The gym has been raising money for the children’s charity over the last six months to celebrate the 2012 games. Gym members of all ages have been taking on a variety of challenges, from running to rowing to cycling and swimming.
The fundraising kicked off back in March with a triathlon. Gym members cycled 3k, rowed 2012m and ran 2k.
MedEquip4Kids is fundraising to help provide a new sensory garden for children in hospital at the Countess. The charity has pledged to raise £18,000 for the garden, which will be used by any child who needs to stay in hospital in Chester.
Katy Hilton, Assistant Manager at Total Fitness said: “I am over whelmed by the response from our fabulous members. They have really got behind this challenge to raise funds for their local hospital. It created a buzz and a friendly competitive edge amongst staff and members alike who were all 100% behind it. This amazing result wouldn’t have been possible without everyone’s support.”
Rose Franks, Community Fundraiser for MedEquip4Kids said: “I have been bowled over by the fundraising at Total Fitness. It’s great that both staff and members got behind this challenge to get fit, celebrate the Olympics and raise money for a great cause all at the same time.”
