MEDEQUIP4KIDS LAUNCH APPEAL FOR BLACKPOOL CHILDREN

MedEquip4Kids have launched an appeal to Blackpool and Fylde residents to help sick kids in the area. The charity, based in Manchester, has taken on a £33,000 fundraising appeal to completely refurbish the Children’s Accident and Emergency Department at  Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The charity has worked in Blackpool before, most recently providing a multisensory room and a fantastic new waiting area at the Vic’s Children’s Outpatients Department.

The new A&E department will be designed to be welcoming to all children, from babies up to older teens, and will feature a fun underwater theme with a new nurses’ desk in the shape of a pirate’s galleon.

Also included in the project cost is new diagnostic equipment to give more accurate and rapid diagnosis when a child is ill.

Sarah Suthers, Community Fundraiser at MedEquip4Kids, said: “It’s great to be fundraising for the Vic again. Last time the hospital needed our help, we were overwhelmed with the support we received from the people of Blackpool. I’m sure the town will get behind us once again to make this project a reality for any child who needs emergency treatment from across the Fylde coast”

Caroline Gomery, Senior Paediatric Sister at Blackpool Victoria Hospital said: “A&E Departments are frightening places for children, and a frightened child is harder to treat. We’re keen to improve the experience children and their families have when visiting hospital, and that’s why we’re so grateful for the support we are getting from MedEquip4Kids.”
