The Royal Bank of Scotland Group is one of the largest financial services groups in the world since its small beginnings nearly 300 years ago. 'RBS giving' backs good causes their employees care about the most. The matched giving scheme - where sponsorship raised by an employee is matched by RBS - has generated more than £50 million for good causes.
In 2007, MedEquip4kids approached RBS Spinningfields in Manchester to see if any of the staff would like to join our BUPA Great Manchester Run team. Around 10 people joined up and raised close to £4,000.
At this point, we met Ray Hughes whose enthusiasm for MedEquip4kids and the work we do saw him attending more events and raising more money. As a thank you, MedEquip4kids invited Ray to become a patron of the charity, and he accepted.
Since then, the RBS has entered a team into every BUPA Great Manchester Run and, in 2009, donated another £12,000 in sponsorship to MedEquip4Kids.
