In 2009, MedEquip4Kids supporters hiked their way through the foothills of the Himalayas. The challenge was such a success, we are returning in 2010!
Join us for this amazing adventure from Wednesday, November 3rd to Saturday, November 13th and raise money not only for MedEquip4Kids, but also for The Theodora Children's Trust and Bolton Lads and Girls Club.
Your adventure will begin in the charming town of Dharamsala - the spiritual home to his holiness, the Dalai Lama, and the centre of the Tibetan community. Following your arrival, you will set off on the challenge trekking for five consecutive days exploring the towns and villages that scatter the foothills of the Himalayas.
The area is known as the Kingdom of Gaddi. Gaddi are a semi-nomadic race who spend months wandering the high passes with their cattle. With stunning scenery as your backdrop, your trek will take you through Rhododendron forests passing Hindu settlements and Buddhist monasteries.
Following on from your challenge, you will then have time to visit India's most iconic landmark and one of the Seven Wonders of the World - the incomparable Taj Mahal.
In addition to participating in this awesome challenge, you will also have the honour of celebrating Diwali - India's largest national festival known as the Festival of Lights.
